And the Survey says:

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to fill out our recent survey.  Twenty-five percent of our members provided feedback, in the world of business statistics, that is a spectacular response.   Our steering committee has reviewed the results and we are ready to share our analysis with you, our members.

The Steering Committee members are:  myself, my wife and business partner, Jenny; Adam Barron – Trainer’s Club Fitness Director; Jeanne Zuelke – Manager of In Balance Spa and Therapies; Dr. Judith Allan – Owner of Oregon Natural Health Clinic; and Danita Chandler – Owner of Portland Pilates.

So let’s get right to it:

The responders were pretty evenly split among long-term and new members, a good spread that insures all interests are heard.  The vast majority of the respondents said they use the club more than once a week – this tells us that Trainer’s Club is important to you.

We asked you to provide four suggestions that would improve Trainer’s Club and four things that  Trainer’s Club does well.  Wow, did you write a lot!

The Number 1 suggestion was to upgrade our cardio equipment, particularly the Stairmasters, the step mill and  rowers.  Our Steering Committee is developing a plan that will address this concern and it will be available for you to review next month.   The plan will have specific goals and target dates and will discuss all cardio equipment including treadmills, stationary bikes and ellipticals.

The Number 2 suggestion is more group classes.   We can do that!!  We will have new classes in January.   All new classes are reviewed after 60 days to make sure it’s what you want.

Number 3 was “Don’t change anything, I love it the way it is.”  All of us at Trainer’s Club want to simply say, THANK YOU, WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT.

Number 4 on the list was “Keep the place cleaner.”  This is very important and we hear you loud and clear.  We have a new janitorial service and our staff and management are working to make sure that we are focused on cleanliness.  If there are specific areas that you are concerned about, please tell me, I will not ignore any comment on this topic.  The club simply cannot be too clean.

Now for the items that make Trainer’s Club stand out:

I am pleased to report the #1 comment was “We love your staff – they are friendly, well-trained and responsive.”  Thank you, we feel strongly that having the best front desk staff available makes Trainer’s Club feel more like it’s your club.

The #2 comment was “the atmosphere here is great.”  You, our members, are responsible for the atmosphere that creates the positive vibe that keeps you coming to the club.  This is why Jenny and I bought the business, the atmosphere here encourages everyone to take their health seriously and have some fun doing it.

The # 3 comment focused on our trainers, you love them!  We do too!  The comment I liked most was “they are very nice, knowledgeable, approachable and not pushy.”  That was a common theme about our best-in-the-region personal trainers.

#4 comment was about our amenities, the coffee, tea, towels, radios, etc….   Thanks for noticing, if there are other things you would like us to provide, I’m all ears.

On the lighter side, the most creative suggestion – “pool on the roof!”  The most difficult suggestion – “make the locker rooms much bigger.”  Sorry, we can’t do either, put thanks for the creativity.

Well, I’ve taken up a lot of your time with this blog, so I’ll close here.  I cannot express my gratitude enough for everyone’s help in making this business work as well as it does.  Members, trainers, staff, business partners, therapists, group leaders – all of you are stakeholders in creating that “Sense of Community” we all strive to be part of, and it’s working.

If you would like more details on the survey please stop by my office and I’ll be happy to share the results with you.

See you around the club.

Just another day in paradise at Trainer’s Club, More than a gym, Your wellness center!
