Artist, Specializing in Oil Painting
Nancy Tongue expresses her passion for color and light through bright, impressionistic oil paintings, featuring florals and landscapes. Her work is shown at The Portland Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery. The Lawrence Gallery located in Sheridan, & Salishan OR. Earthenworks Galleries, LaConner & Port Townsend WA.
Her work is collected internationally.
Nancy has studied with Royce Kugler, Sharon Engel and Charles Sovek. Her paintings have been featured in: The Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, (winning the ’96, ’99 & 2002 “Honorable Mention Award”);The Antoinette Hatfield Gallery, Garden Gallery, Muldoons Gallery, Gallery at Willamette, Meridian Park Hospital in OR. A native Oregonian, and Registered Nurse, Nancy is married to Dr. John Tongue. They have 3 children. She taught in the Art Literacy Program in the LO School District for 9 years. Her self-designed studio received the ’96 Lake Oswego Historic Merit Award. She is a member of Oil Painters of America & American Impressionist Society.
A TV documentary about Nancy aired in Dec. 2000.
A painting of hers was chosen for the Harrison Ford movie, “Extraordinary Measures” 2010. The 2013 Coffee table book, Lake Oswego, A Great Place to Live, features Nancy’s work.
